Hermanos Araúz Farm
The Products
Sugar cane, raspadura, coffee, bananas, corn, guandu, cassava, yam, and citrus.
The Techniques
In addition to agroecological techniques for growing sugar cane and other crops, the Araúz brothers use an ecological technology to extract juice from the cane -- a traditional mill made of local wood and powered by a horse or a person. The cane juice is used to prepare organic fertilizers or for mulch.
The People
Two brothers with the last name Araúz work this farm and make the raspadura. They live with their mom.
